Biography

Candace Buckley, Executive Director of the Toledo Lead Resource Center is a dedicated servant community leader and advocate based in Toledo, Ohio, committed to improving the health, safety, and well-being of families across the Toledo region. Known for her passion for safe and affordable housing, community empowerment, poverty eradication and public health education, Candace has played a key role in advancing collaborative solutions in the homelessness system, and with services for disabled children and adults. She is currently developing a comprehensive strategy to prioritize lead poisoning prevention within the community, ensuring it is proactive rather than reactive, and supporting efforts to achieve a lead-safe future. Candace’s approach is founded on the basic principles of compassion, integrity, and respect, as well as a firm belief that every individual deserves the opportunity to thrive in their community. She recognizes that access to safe, healthy, and affordable housing serves as a fundamental cornerstone for personal and communal success. Through her leadership, Candace inspires positive change and cultivates partnerships that advance community progress. She serves as a board member for the OH 501 Home for Everyone Continuum of Care and sits on the Governance Committee for The Fair Housing Center and Anne Grady Services. Additionally, she lends her expertise to the Metroparks Community Advisory Council, Ohio Women in Housing Network (OWAHN), Toledo Lead Poisoning Prevention Coalition and serves on the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics-Lead Free Ohio Committee. Candace brings extensive business acumen, having held a variety of roles within local Business Chambers and acting as a Small Business Mentor for the Northwest Ohio Business Mentor Program. She earned a bachelor’s in Christian Counseling and holds Repair, Renovation, and Painting (RRP) Certification. Outside of her professional and community commitments, she enjoys spending time surrounded by family and her two dogs, reading, cooking, and traveling.
