Biography
Megan Hughes supervises the Housing Hygiene Section within the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). She has worked in lead poisoning prevention since 2008 when she was hired by the Albany County Health Department as a lead inspector. In addition to overseeing the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP), Childhood Lead Poisoning Primary Prevention Program (CLPPP+), and Healthy Neighborhoods Program, she is also working on the regulatory and preparation work necessary to implement the new Rental Registry program. With both fieldwork and regulatory/oversight experience, Megan maintains a unique perspective on the complicated issues surrounding healthy housing and lead poisoning prevention. She is passionate about furthering primary prevention efforts and innovative approaches to address lead exposure.
