Biography
Morri Markowitz, MD, is the Director of the Lead Poisoning Prevention and Treatment Program at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein, and Professor of Pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Markowitz's clinical interest is in providing treatment for lead poisoning, focusing on care to children and pregnant and lactating women. Dr. Markowitz’s research assesses diagnostic and treatment modalities in lead poisoned children. He has been principal investigator and co-investigator on multiple National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other federal agency-funded research projects. He has shared his work through numerous peer-reviewed publications and invited presentations. He has been a member of many professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society for Pediatric Research and the American Society for Bone & Mineral Research. He received the Master Teacher Award from Montefiore in 2003, and was named a Fullbright Scholar Specialist in 2004.
