Biography
Sheila Xiah Kragie has been serving as the EPA’s Lead (Pb) Coordinator out of the Administrator’s Office with the Children’s Health program since the end of 2024, working across the broad lead portfolio in EPA program offices and regions. She started at the agency in 2018 in the Office of Pollution Prevention & Toxics (OPPT) working under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) providing technical support for lead-based paint hazard standards and then as a special assistant supporting the dynamic portfolio of existing chemical risk evaluations. Prior to working at EPA, she led National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reviews as an air engineer at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), consulted on multimedia contaminant modeling for human health risk assessment in the private sector, and served as a water engineer in Peace Corps Honduras. She holds a master’s in public health from Emory University, a master’s in geochemistry from Columbia University, and bachelors’ degrees in both environmental engineering and economics from University of Maryland. At home, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and adventuring with her two school age kids and supportive husband.
