Yvette Mitchell

Biography
Yvette Mitchell is an experienced public health professional with interests in indoor air quality, interconnection of health and housing; redlining, environmental racism, and urban policy. She has worked in the Cleveland Department of Public Health since 2018. Her initial role was to create an indoor air quality program to respond to the needs of residents regarding air quality concerns in their homes. The program has since expanded to include advocating for smoke-free multi-unit housing; working with school districts and school nurses to provide technical assistance and support on IAQ topics; the development of an asthma home management program to help families eliminate asthma and allergy triggers; and is trained as a Freedom From Smoking Facilitator to offer smoking cessation to residents throughout the city. Ms. Mitchell is also a committee member of the Inter-Agency Equity Team and the Breathe-free committee comprised of stakeholders interested in tobacco cessation; enforcement of tobacco 21 rules and reducing youth access to tobacco and vaping products.
