Biography
Carl Grimes is a Healthy Home Specialist and Certified Indoor Environmental Consult. After overcoming indoor exposure issues in the 1980s he began consulting with those who had similar issues. He is strongly oriented to identifying occupant needs first and then how to correct building conditions to reduce complaints and increase comfort. He wrote the book, Starting Points For a Healthy Habitat in 1999, which led to interest from industry. He served on the board of the Indoor Air Quality Association for 13 years. 2 1/2 as President. Four years as VP of Practice at the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate. He helped develop ANSI accredited standards for the indoor environment, including the 2025 ASHRAE position document Health and Well-being in the Indoor Built Environment; the original S520 Standard for Professional Mold Remediation; Healthy Home Principles for the Indoor Air Quality Association; and medical practice parameters for the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. He is currently the Director of Healthy Homes at the Hayward Healthy Home Institute.
