Biography
Larry Brooks has over 30 years of government service in housing, code enforcement, and public health, with leadership roles in Sacramento and Yolo Counties and Alameda County’s Healthy Homes and Child Lead Poisoning Prevention programs. A published author and frequent national speaker, he is widely recognized for his work on cooperative compliance, proactive rental inspection programs, and lead poisoning prevention. Larry has served as a subject matter expert on state and federal housing legislation, receiving HUD Achievement Awards in 2016 and 2022 for advancing healthy housing initiatives. He was recognized by the EPA for setting a national standard in RRP training and received the inaugural Healthy Housing Hero Award in 2025. Larry holds an MPA in Management and a BS in Health Sciences from California State University, East Bay, and currently works as a Healthy Homes consultant in both the public and private sectors.
